Brain Games Inprove Your Memory

When the neurons in your brain are exercised, they are happy! It is just like the muscles in your body. We know that exercising specific cognitive skills can improve our ability of enjoying the quality of life throughout the years.

I interviewed Sheryle Bolton (SB), CEO of Happy Neutron Games.

SZ: How does a person exercise the neurons in their brain?

SB: When the neurons in your brain are exercised, they are happy! It is just like the muscles in your body.

We know that exercising specific cognitive skills can improve our ability of enjoying the quality of life throughout the years.

Our games are divided into the 5 main areas of the brain for skills that make a difference in your life.

These games focus on language, memory, concentration or focus of attention, visual skills, and executive skills.

The CEO executive skills of our brain involve reasoning, problem solving, organization, and sequences, all the we need.

SZ: Are the games divided into different levels of difficulty?

SB: When you play the games, you choose your difficulty. Always start at the first easy level and work up to the others.

Go at your own pace. If the game is too hard or too easy, people are not interested. As you progress, it automatically gets harder.

SZ: How do we know our scores?

SB: The games give you feedback and suggestions about what you should do next.

The purpose of the games, first people are motivated to have fun.

If they know it is good for us, just like taking medicine, they do not want to do it. I like language games.

SZ: What are some of the games?

SB: The idea is to recall parts of words, complete words, or put parts together to make new word. In one topic area, the faster you do it, the better your score.

The visual spatial games, entangled figures, ask you to choose which figure you want entangled, and you visually imagine taking apart the tangled figures and how they would look untangled.

Look at the details and really concentrate. This takes deductive reasoning.

Research shows memory and processing speed declines with age. It is recommended that you compensate by practicing more.

The muscles in the body decline with age but can be strengthened by work outs. Baby boomers and older ('40s-'50s-'60s) should talk about prevention by building up neurons and creating new pathways and connections.

Everybody should be interested in honing cognitive skills. What to do to make sure of your mental edge, the key to the quality of your life.

The quicker we can process information, the more apt we can use these skills. Play the games as much as you like, the more repetition and practice helps all of us.
If you see how the games relate to your everyday life, you would feel better about playing them. While playing the games, you can compare to other people your age, education, and see where you rank.

They are user-friendly, easy to understand, and fun to do. Happy Neuron is the main online source with the largest group of games.
