High School Football: Darnell Scott the Best Running Back Recruit in the Nation
Blue Chip recruit Darnell Scott is currently considered the top high school runner in the nation.
Slicing through opponents like a man among boys, the heralded back rushed for 3,194 yards and 46 touchdowns last year, averaging an amazing 9.5 yards per carry in the process. This was even a step up from the 1,988 yards and 19 touchdowns he gained as a sophomore. At this pace there is no telling what kind of stats he will pile up during his 2020 senior year. However, he will be playing for a new school, having transferred for his senior year to St. Bonaventure,
Blessed with a mixture of speed and power not unlike Oklahoma's famed back Adrian Peterson, Scott's acceleration, size, strength, and hands make him as complete a back as there can be. Add to this package of talent the versatility that saw the him play at both receiver and punter last year, in addition to running with the ball, and you begin to see why Darnell might just become the most sought after recruit in the nation.
Though still willing to keep working on different aspects of his game, Scott is not shy about showing up at football camps during the spring, a trait that will find acceptance with any college coach. This year Scott has been using the off season to sharpen his footwork along with trying to get his time in the 40 down to 4.3, goals which he believes will take him a step closer to actualizing his dream.
Though he is already high on the radar of most major schools, Darnell is not overly concerned with settling on one school yet, stating that its too early in the process for that. Still, he is not opposed to visiting most of the schools that are after him. He is also not opposed to ending up in an out of state program like Michigan if it he feels that the program will fit his needs. Along with the strong football tradition that a top school would provide, Scott is also looking for a school with good academics and academic support. No matter where he ends up, it is a safe bet that you will be hearing of Darnell Scott for years to come.
