Why Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition is the Best Flight Sim on the Market
Will 'Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition' become the greatest flight simulator of all time? It's possible Developer Neoqb and 777 Studios pulled it off, but is the game too much for the average gamer's system to handle?
Before we delve into gameplay and content, it's important to examine the system demands of the game. The ROF:ICE box recommends the buyer possess the Windows XP/Vista OS and at minimum, 3gigs of RAM, an Intel Core2 Quad Processor at 2.6 GHz and a full gig of video memory. While most current systems well exceed these requirements, those gamers with older PCs will be and have been quite disappointed. Granted, with advanced gaming engines pushing systems to their limits, it would seem only natural that the consumer keep their hardware as up-to-date as the games they purchase. What good are crystal clear graphics when you have to pull the detail settings down in order to play the game? That said, let's get to the game.
I've been a FlightSim fan for ages and in my opinion, nothing adds to the realism of a game more so than a proper joystick and and rudder pedals. Call me a geek, but if you're going to sim, you might as well do it right. I suggest taking a peek at Amazon.com and take advantage of some of the great deals they have on gaming gear. Having already been accustomed to the controls and feel of Rise of Flight, I was able to jump right in and take to the skies. To the newbie, regardless of weilding a joystick or mouse, do yourself a favor and take advantage of an educational, though slightly corny Training Campaign. ROF boasts a very steep learning curve and it might be a few hours before soaring the skies comes easy. It will be beneficial in the long run and prevent the headaches derived from repeatedly nosediving into the countryside.
It won't take long for you to notice the quality of this WW I sim. The advanced physics and flight models coupled with astonishing visuals will make it difficult for any sim fan to argue that Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition isn't the most realistic flight experience to hit the PC. While the single player campaign mode lacks depth and leaves a bit to be wanting, the action really heats up in the multiplayer modes. Choose one of eight aircraft (double the number provided in the 1st game) and participate in co-op matches, dogfights or capture-the-flag missions. It's during these missions that the gamer truly appreciates the intricasies of the game. Pay attention to the gorgeous cloudscapes, realistic rain drops, interaction with wind patterns, blood splatter and ringing ears. And when you tire of the planes provided, there are always more to be purchased.
Although a bit difficult to handle at first, Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition will fast become a favorite among sim fans. The ultra-realism of this flight simulator can only be experienced first hand and in addition to the beauty and play of the game, what impresses me equally is the support and updates provided by Team Neoqb who do an enormous job keeping gamers happy. I highly recommend you scoop this title up as soon as possible. Check online sites first when searching for this product as most retailers are currently sold out.
