Product Recall: RC2, the First Years Potty Chair Seats Due to Lead
The First Years has voluntarily recalled some of its potty chair seats, due to a violation of federal lead safety standards.
The recalled product is The First Years 3-in-1 Flush and Sounds Potty Seats. These were distributed by RC2 Corp. of Oak Brook, Illinois. They were manufactured in China. This voluntary recall affects 160,000 units of product.
The plaque decorated with characters from the Disney characters of Winnie the Pooh and friends is the possible source of lead. The orange paint might contain excessive lead levels that violate the federal lead paint standards. The plaque is located on the chair back of the potty seat.
The First Years 3-in-1 Flush and Sounds Potty Seats come in two color styles. The first style is a yellow chair with a green seat that is removable for placement onto a standard toilet seat. This seat contains a purple collection pot that is also removable, along with a purple "flushing" handle. The plaque on the back is purple with Winnie the Pooh characters.
The second style is a blue chair. This one has a white seat that is removable for placement on a traditional toilet seat. The removable collection pot for this style is green, as is the "flushing" handle. The plaque on the back of this style is blue, but slightly darker in tone than the blue found on other sections of the potty seat.
Both styles of these seats are designed to make a flushing noise when the child pulls the handle to prepare the child for when they will use a traditional toilet.
These should be kept out of the reach of children until consumers contact RC2. RC2 is providing a permanent clear protective cover that will cover the plaque area of the potty seats. Once the clear cover is obtained and applied, the potty seat can still be used.
