Review: Walgreens Premium Comfort-Stretch Training Pants
Walgreens Comfort-Stretch Training Pants are cheaper and better than Huggies Pull-Ups and Pampers Easy Ups.
I checked my local Walgreens and compared prices. Huggies Pull-Ups were 46 cents a piece, Pampers Easy Ups were also 46 cents a piece, but Walgreens Comfort-Stretch Training Pants were only 34 cents a piece.
If you check the Walgreens Sunday insert, you will see that they put their training pants on sale quite often. This week's sale actually brings the price down to 23 cents a piece.
I also wanted to try a generic brand of training pants because I secretly hoped my daughter would think they were not comfortable. I was hoping she would prefer to wear her new Dora cotton underwear. But no such luck. The Walgreens brand of training pants is so comfortable she has no desire to switch - which could be seen as a pro or con.
Walgreens training pants come with many nice features. The girl's design has princesses, and the boy's design is of cars. Some Walgreens stores may still be carrying the older designs with the Land Before Time theme. This older style doesn't seem to prevent leakage as well as the newer style.
The training pants are advertised as having "teaching designs" which are stars, or flowers in the older design, which fade when they get wet. We never use this feature since I can usually tell when she is wet without looking at the stars. But it's a nice feature to have.
Walgreens training pants have, "Easy tear-away sides." Some days it doesn't seem so easy to tear away the sides, but I like that they are much more secure than the brands with velcro sides. They have never accidently opened up like other brands have.
The training pants are also very easy for my daughter to pull up and down. They have soft stretchable sides which allow my daughter to easily pull the pants on and off.
To me, Walgreens training pants seem to have more coverage than the other brands. This is great for keeping her dry, but they do occasionally show above her waistband. Some children my find this embarrassing, but my daughter never seemed to care.
I really like that the Walgreens brand of training pants is hypoallergenic, alcohol free, perfume free and latex free. My daughter has a history of getting rashes from certain brands of diapers, so I was relieved when this brand did not cause a rash.
But the big question is, do they leak? Surprisingly, we have had relatively few cases of leaking. We've had no problems at night, where as she often leaked when wearing Pull-ups and Easy Ups. She didn't even have any blow outs when she was experiencing a case of diarrhea. The only time we ran into leakage problems was when we were on a long car ride. And that was probably because we were drinking a lot of liquids and sitting for extended periods of time.
Now that I have found my favorite brand of training pants, I know it is time to give up training pants and switch her over to real underpants. It's finally time I become an expert in potty training. I know my daughter and I will both miss our favorite Walgreens training pants. Wish me/us luck!
